The Polaroid OneStep is an instant camera. Unlike the classic Polaroid SX-70, this camera and its variations cannot be folded, which of course made them more affordable. It is largely made of plastic, which makes it correspondingly light.
The camera is black and white, with the white being more of a cream tone. The round trigger is red and the front also has a rainbow stripe, which is why it is often found under the name “Polaroid One Step SX-70 Rainbow”.
A fixed focal length is installed in the Polaroid OneStep, so zooming is not possible. The lens cannot be replaced and the focus is also fixed. Aperture and exposure time cannot be determined by the photographer and are also not visible. The Polaroid OneStep chooses the exposure automatically. It can only be influenced slightly with the controller on the front. You can get up to 1.2 m (4 ft) close to your subject. The later image can be arranged with a simple viewfinder.
